It was the first time that I burn a DL dvd. Since I had problems in the past to burn iso images using nero I decided to try ImgBurn at time to burn a large iso image on a DL DVD.

I loaded the iso in image burn, check for the layer break, all seems to be ok.
http://img164.imagevenue.com/loc985/th_01742_pic_lb_122_985lo.jpg (http://img164.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=01742_pic_lb_122_985lo.jpg)

After insert the DL verbatim I start the burn process.
The burn process finalized ok, at least I didn't get any error message during the burning. The only weird thing that I noticed is that in the middle of the burning (more or less at 40%) it was pause of a couple seconds and the drive began to make some weird noise, after that the process continued normally and finished ok.

The problem appeared more or less ar 40% of the verification process, this message popup
http://img226.imagevenue.com/loc339/th_01195_pic_122_339lo.jpg (http://img226.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=01195_pic_122_339lo.jpg)

After press retry a couple of times without luck I canceled the verification process.

I made a crc test with dvdinfo pro and at 40% I started to get this

So the question is if:
- The DVD used was verbatim (thought it was the best),
- The DVD-RW drive is new (ASUS DRW-1814BL) and working fine.
- Never had problem to burn iso image on dvd-5 with ImgBurn. - ImgBurn display "excellent" in the layer break info.
- The burning process finished successful.

What could be happened? :(

Thanx in advance for any help.

Hi!I 01:55:18 Average Write Rate: 7.485 KB/s (5.4x) - Maximum Write Rate: 11.180 KB/s (8.1x)1) The consensus opinion of those of us who have burned a good number of DL discs is that, regardless of indicated maximum burn speed, you should not exceed 2.4X.

2) Have you played the .ISO (use VLC), to see if it plays properly?

3) Did you create the .ISO from a commercial DVD or from "something else"?

If from a commercial DVD, does the original commercial DVD play properly on your PC?

4) Were your D/L Verbatims manufactured in India? (Check packaging carefully)

Thanx for reply setarip_old,

1. Didn't know that, since the drive can burn dl at 8x and the media say "up to 6x speed with compatible high speed dvd-rw drives" I leave that Imgburn set the speed :(
2. Yes, I tried with vlc, km, gom, mpc and windvd, at some point the dvd freezes.
3. I created the iso from the original
Yes, it play fine on my pc and standalone player
4. Made in Singapur

So, it was the speed?

4. Made in SingapurThat's a GOOD thing (Early reports indicate that the same media, manufactured in India is far less dependable)
So, it was the speed?Very likely...

The program defaults to writing at max speeds, it's down to the user to tell it otherwise - either manually or via the 'Automatic Write Speed' feature (where you configure the speed of each media ID).
