Hi there,

Long time no see, everyone.
It seems that I've hit a brick wall with my favorite application set.

A long time ago, someone from a DVD forum had made a nice installer of the free version of DVDRebuilder, with CCE SP 2.66 and AviSynth included...

I've been faithfully using that for the last couple of years - no complaints.

However, my newest computer has Windows Vista on it, and the damned thing can't seem to like using DVD-RB + CCE.

I keep getting this strange error message that ccspt.exe has stopped working... If I try the eclcc.exe, I get a pop-up saying "AVIfileOpen (xxxxx.avs): error 0x80040154"

No matter what I do, no matter how I try to fiddle with the settings (I even tried CCE 2.70, but to no avail!0 I can't get the program to work.

I get the following log (as you can see, multiple attempts to make it work...):

If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful... this is driving me nuts - just when I finally got a nice rig (AMD 64x2 4400+, 2 GB RAM), after using a Barton 2500 for the last four years...

CCE SP costs something on the order of USD 2000, I believe. Doesn't seem like it should be "bundled"? At any rate, I'd give HC a try. It is free and is included in the RB installer.

I don't know about HC... until I see well-documented and exhaustive encoding tests made with all the available freeware, I'm a bit skeptical. The scene also seems dead set on CCE (six pass standard), probably for good reason.

I'm reading conflicting reports on various sites concerning CCE and DVD-RB and Vista... some people say the newer CinemaCraft Encoder (strangely named version 1 something) is supposed to be working well with Vista, but it seems to me it would take a different programming approach, so I have no idea how and if I would instruct DVD-RB to use it, anyway.

CCE SP 2.66 trial needs to be used with eclcce (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=266080#post266080)

if I remember correctly only cce sp 2.70 and cce sp2 work with Vista

The version of CCE you are using is not registering... which means there is something wrong with the executable because the operating system can't get the version -- and all CCE versions release return it properly.

I would suggest you post your REBUILDER.INI file so we can see where you are pointing...

CCE v2.66 is way out of date -- it was released almost 6 years ago. I believe it does require ECLCCE in order to handle command line interfacing... but it's been a long time since I've see it.

CCE is a commercial program and it has NEVER BEEN BUNDLED with a legitimate copy of DVD-RB. Saying you downloaded it also implies a violation of Rule #6.

There are thousands of people using DVD-RB with CCE v2.70... if it isn't working in your case it is very obviously a configuration error. I'd suggest you uninstall DVD-RB, uninstall AVISYNTH, and then run the DVD-RB full installer. It will install AVISYNTH if it isn't already installed and it will locate CCE automatically (if it is correctly registered via its installer).

Struck for rule 6. And stop talking about "the scene". It's not allowed here.

Thank you for the suggestion, jdobbs, it seems that AviSynth was messed up... deleting everything and installing CCE 2.70 trial before giving DVD-RB another go seems to be working correctly now, under Vista.
