Hello all,

I am trying to move a MPEG-2 transport stream (.ts) to a Sony BDZ-X90 Bluray recorder, where I will re-encode the stream to H.264. This is for video quality evaluation, so I really need a solution that won't result in the source MPEG-2 getting recoded before getting to the recorder.

I'm running into the issue that the BDZX90 doesn't seem to allow you to re-encode BDVM formatted disks. tsMuxer+ImgBurn will let me generate a disk without re-encoding the source, but it will only create BDVM formatted disks. On the flip side, I can't find any authoring software that will generate BDAV format disks without re-encoding the source (eg. Nero Vision and PowerProducer both re-encode).

Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's for AVCHD, but I think the same trick can be used for BDAV.

BTW, is this Lowell?

Thanks for the reply! It looks like that might work, assuming the recorder will accept the quasi-AVCHD disk. I will give it a shot.

BTW: This is not Lowell, but a member of his group making use of his account due to the 5-day limit prior to new members being allowed to post. ;)
