View Full Version : Extracting TrueHD from Blu-ray?

I've tried to extract the TrueHD track from a m2ts file with DGIndex, xport, eac3to, h264to, tsRemuxer and TSRemux. TSRemux was the only software that was able to find the track, but output is only M2TS or TS. Xport didn't find anything.

DGIndex says:

Program 1

PCR on PID 0x1001
Other on PID 0x1011
AC3/DTS Audio on PID 0x1100
AC3/DTS Audio on PID 0x1101
AC3/DTS Audio on PID 0x1102
Other on PID 0x1103
Other on PID 0x1200
Other on PID 0x1201
Other on PID 0x1202
Other on PID 0x1203
Other on PID 0x1204
Other on PID 0x1205

How could the THD be extracted? I'm planning to encode it to DTS.

:thanks:

I think tsremux .20 converts THD to Dobly digital for you by just dropping the extended info which would be the best audio you could get. why would you want to convert it to a totally different format?

To remux it to mkv.

To remux it to mkv.

extracted Dolby Digital 5.1 straight from TrueHD would still sound better than a remuxed DTS track in a mkv. Plus DTS in mkvs are annoying as they have to be transcoded to play on a ps3 :p.

Try loading it with tsremux and right click on stream then click demux to elementary stream.

Extracted AC3 from THD is only 640k and is DTS 1536k. How exactly does mkv container effect on the sound quality? I'm muxing for my HTPC, so no transcoding needed. :)

What were you ripping?? as that sometimes has an effect

So far every Blu-ray with THD has had the same problem.

did you try demuxing the stream with tsremux? what software do you have that remuxes THD to DTS?

The MKV container does not affect your sound quality at all. It's a container. However, everything you do to the audio to make it, say PS3 compatible, does affect the sound quality.

I have tried Tsremux. I use eac3to and libav for THD to DTS encoding.

yes tsremux does have issues with extracting THD streams and even LPCM streams which are just wav files. And you tried xport and no go?

Yes. Xport didn't find anything.

I am hoping tsmuxer will support these streams in its demux function soon (TrueHD, DTS_HD, and LPCM lossless).
