Installed wmfdist11.exe but codecs show unregistered

I'm putting together my new Q6600 computer and tried to get HD playing yesterday. Got avc/x264 playing with Haali splitter and ffdshow, but now trying to get VC1 to play. I installed wmfdist11.exe but all DMO codecs show unregistered in Directshow Filter Manager. Anything come to mind?? Does my Directshow version affect this?? I installed WinXP SP2, DirectX version is 9.??

Any tips would be appreciated.

wmfdist11.exe did work fine on my older machine.

Update - In Directshow Filter Manager the DMO Codecs show as "unknown", not "unregistered", just to clear up that point.

Update 2 - Can't get WMVideo DMO to connect in graphedit at all. Feeding it with Haali Media Splitter (evo file). This worked on my old computer. Stuck now??

You could try to manually register them. Maybe something went wrong during installation.

regsvr32 wmvdmod.dll
...
etc.

Edit: it is normal that DS Filter Manager shows them as "unknown". Happens for me too on a working installation.

AFAIK, MS codec updates are included and properly installed via WMP updates. Installing WMP 11 for Windows XP should help you out :)

Well I got it to work sort of. I did read that the DMO filter has no property page which is normal. I was trying to playback a .evo file last night and couldn't figure out why the DMO filter was not being used and the playback was screwed up. No wonder, the evo was not VC1 encoded but AVC! Silly me.

As of now, I have MPC playing back

1. m2ts with avc (Haali feeds ffdshow, decoding video good)
2. evo with vc1 (Haali feeds WMDMO, working good)
3. evo with avc not working (Haali feeds ffdshow, starts ok, but after few seconds picture freezes audio goes on. If I drag slider bar to new section of movie, video and audio not in sync.

I'm using sonic decoder pack 4.2. I have 4.3 but should I use it instead. Trying to google the 4.3 pack to find out the changes between 4.2 and 4.3 but got nowhere. Anyone know what changed?


Update - got it working. Needed CoreAVS to make number 3 above work, it also allows number 1 to work too. Now all I have to try is an m2ts with VC1, then I'll be set but still don't know why ffdshow would not work in number 3 above??
