First i am very new to DL burning, and after read many documents on forum i have many questions about this problem because i get "End of world" message in ImgBurn 2.4.0.0.

I figured out how to split cell with vobblanker, after this imgburn show averged layer break. Is this means that break will be visible?

What should be happen if i don't set layer break with vobblanker? Did will burning failed?

Did will Nero 8.2 burn with correct layer break?

Thanks for informations.

The LB must normally be at the beginning of a cell, hence the "end of the world" warning.

During the layer switch, a short pause occurs on most players. Therefore, you should select carefully the position of the LB to minimize its impact. The ratings given by ImgBurn are just indications based on an analyze of the IFO information. After a split with VB, the rating will always be avarage. Don't worry.

IIRC, ImgBurn can also burn the DVD without having to split the cell, but the risk of problems with many players is dramatically increased.

You can also use use the "Seamless LB" option of ImgBurn or PgcEdit, to suppress the pause. That technique is usually safe, but some (old) players don't support it.

Nero was well known to do a very bad job with the layer break, but now that we have ImgBurn, I don't use it anymore. Perhaps the recent versions are correct.

Ok, i done split, burn and test, and everything work great on my standalone player, i dont get pause on layer switch.

IIRC, ImgBurn can also burn the DVD without having to split the cell, but the risk of problems with many players is dramatically increased.
What should be happen if i burn some data or for example MKV 7.5BG file, did i need make layer break and how. I started backup my HDDVD and BluRay rips, can i just burn it on DVD+DL?

The layer break is a DVD-Video concept (and probably also HDDVD and BR.) There is no layer break in a data disc, although it might be preferable to try to put a big file that must be read rapidly on the same layer. A MKV file is a data file, and therefore you don't have to worry about the LB.

Honestly, for HDDVD and BR, I don't know. Maybe some players can read the DVDs with HD content. Anyway, the rips should not fit on a single DL DVD, or I don't understand the advantage of the new media!
