I think this question would have been posted many times but I cant seem to find an answer to it in the forums. I am wondering what resolutions do I have to resize to keep the aspect ratios for a vcd?? in doom9's guide he only mentioned svcd resizing for pal and ntsc but does not mention vcd resizing at all. I have seen in one thread where we should resize to 352x192 but is that for a pal source or ntsc source?? how do we work out the resolution?? thanks

352x240 for NTSC.

yea i know that but what about movies that are in widescreen????
you have to resize 352 by something and I know it has to be smaller than 240 because the movie is in widescreen. doom9 could you please help me??? you never mentioned it in your faq. thanks

resize to 352*180 then add borders on top & bottom equal to 30 a piece.
That will work!

(4/3) / (16/9) = 0.75
If you multiply the PAL VCD height 288 with 0.75 you get 216.
(288-216) / 2 = 36 for borders.
Use 352x216 and add 36 at the top and bottom as borders.
