720i & 1080i playback in vista

I am having trouble playing back these hd files when using the x264 codec. I am currently using the CoreAVC PE with MPC, and getting results with the 720i but not the 1080i.

I don't mind buying software so long as it will work.

And a bit of wording,

You're decoding an H.264 stream with CoreAVC, not the "x264 codec". x264 is an encoder. CoreAVC is a decoder.

But I don't mean to threadbomb. Details please!
