How do I get AutoMKV to use all of my Q6600?

Hey guys. I've got a Core 2 Quad Q6600. When I encode with x264 in AutoMKV it only uses 40-50% of my processor. How do I get it to use the rest? I've tried to increase the number of threads in the advanced profile section, but it doesn't really help. Should x264 encoding use all of the processor?

Any chance it's Vista and the default power settings are set? The default power settings in Vista will only utilize about 50% of the CPU.

Went into the power options and change the max processor speed from 50% to 100%. Still stuck at under 50%. Looks like it is only using 2 cores. Anything else I should check?

It could the avs script causing your problem. I think it only uses one core and if your doing much avs processing before feeding it to x264 it can cause the lower CPU utilization.

leakkernel deint is fast, but not multiprocessors wise

try checking "HQ Deint", it will trigger Tdeint as deinterlacer, should be faster

Just tried that. FPS dropped from around 10 to 5. Any other ideas?

First of all You should install multithreaded AviSynth (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=94996) and then add SetMTmode(2,0) at the very begining of the script.

[x264newbie]

I copied the multi-threaded avisynth to my system32 folder. First pass still only uses 50% of the processor. Second pass uses all of it though. Is this just how it is?
