Hi Guys,

I'm fed up with Nero's 'DVD-Video files reallocation failed' phantom error, time to use some other burning software.

What do you guys recommend?

I like outputting to a VIDEO_TS folder with DVD-RB, so I can view the video quickly without loading an ISO DVD image into PowerISO, so it would be good to be able to burn the contents of VIDEO_TS directly.

But I'm open to suggestions - what works for you?

Oh, preferably free. :)

Thanks.

Try Imgburn. Great burner.

Hi!I'm fed up with Nero's 'DVD-Video files reallocation failed' phantom errorIt's neither "phantom" nor an "error".

1) It's an advice/warning, letting you know that (usually the result of a ripping program, such as any of the free or commercial DVDFab versions) your ripped DVD "package" contains orphan/unreferenced files.

2) It offers you the option to ignore the warning and then gives you 60 seconds to decide whether you wish to continue - Simply select "Yes"

NERO may have other faults (eagerly pointed out by other members), this is not one...

ImgBurn is highly recommended. It's free (but a donation is appropriate). It also integrates seamlessly into DVD-RB so you can do a PREPARE, ENCODE, REBUILD, and BURN -- all as a single action.

In terms of what setarip_old is saying, I have seen that some rippers delete 0 byte files but do not get rid of references to them in the IFOs. There's lots of other things that can go bump in the night. Make sure your ripper is compliant to the spec.

I see this for episodic discs alot,.....and the first few times,...made me paranoid......but it is what it is"hums James Brown theme".

I'm not gonna dump on imgburn(never used it),....but some all-in-one players from china used to complain about anything other than Nero burnt backups.

I take it that LUK fixed that, but still......that's really more HW issue than anything else.....and would make me return the item.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've been playing with ImgBurn today and it seems to be a very decent app.

jdobbs - thanks for today's DVD-RB Pro update, already installed and ready-to-go.

Make sure you're using v1.27.1 -- v1.27 had a major glitch in it.

Thanks, I did have 1.27 and not 1.27.1 but have now updated. Only just now seen the update email.

Cheers.
