Has anyone been able to get the PS3 to play this successfully? Last night I got very close. I used eac3to to extract the vc1 and ac3 tracks, then muxed to M2TS using tsMuxer, then renamed movie.m2ts to movie.wmv and it plays, but very choppy video and only stereo sound. I think TVersity is just transcoding it to play on the PS3.

Golgot13, have you been able to get it to work inside of a TS or M2TS container? WMV container? If so, could you please elaborate? Thanks!

According to this: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/video/filetypes.html
It looks like VC-1 is only supported in a WMV container with WMA v2 audio.

Thanks for pointing that out skrowl. I've been able to convert the EVO to WMV but I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to simply change the container of the VC1 video file from EVO to WMV without reencoding / quality loss.

Definitely let me know if you find a way.
I would think that VC-1 originally found in an EVO file would be able to be muxed into a WMV (since WMV supports VC-1 as a codec), but I haven't been able to find out how.
I don't mind having to transcode the audio to WMA, since I have to pick which language I want and downsample from 7.1 to 5.1 anyhow.
I'm thinking:
1) Demux EVO to get out the vc1 video stream and 1 audio stream
2) Encode the audio to WMA v2, preserving 5.1 or downsampling 7.1 to 5.1
3) Mux the untouched vc1 stream + the encoded WMA audio to a newly created WMV file
4) Play on PS3 / Xbox 360
The only question is: What tools to use
