Hi i have a problem with my audio encoding processes.

when i try to encode an 640 kb/s ac3 audio to 448 kb/s ac3 i get the audio with really low volume.

i have installed all the codec required.

i have used behappy and belight(besweet) both. but got the same problem. what may be the problem?

by the way i didnt want to use the normalize function. because there would be no difference from an mp3 file.

my appz screens below. what functions should i use?

can anybody help me?

BeLight Main Screen:

BeHappy Configuration Screen:

in what ways can i get the minimum quality loss?

Disable all options regarding DRC (Dynamic Range Compression) and DN (Dialog Normalization) in the programs above or use eac3to (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125966).

thanks nautilus7 for your help.
i select NONE for DRC and "0" for DN and it worked fine.

If your Belight settings are like the images really you have problems but not only with the volume:
- The decoder DRC is set, then you lose Dynamic Range (flat audio)
- The decoder output is set to stereo then from a 5.1 640 Kb/s you obtain a 2.0 (448 Kb/s ?)
- After the audio is Normalized with OTA HybridGain (really HybridGain don't work with ac3 the OTA use PreGain)
- Seems you have a outdated BeLight version without support for Aften encoder, then you must use the deprecated ac3enc with a max output volume of -6 dB

But I can understand how you obtain the same problem using BeHappy. To obtain a similar output you need:
- Apply DRC in NicAc3Source.
- Apply a Downmix to stereo.
- Apply a Normalize(0.5)

by the way i didnt want to use the normalize function. because there would be no difference from an mp3 file.

I can't understand this comment. In BeLight you use the normalize (OTA).

To transcode ac3 640 Kb/s to 448 Kb/s with minimum quality loss the easy way is use eac3to like Nautilus7 say.

If you wan use Belight, download the last version (and the last bsn.dll) to use Aften encoder (like eac3to or BeHappy), and uncheck all the check boxes.

With BeHappy use NicAc3Source without DRC like decoder, don't use DSP functions (is safe use a Normalize from 0.9 to 1.0) and the Aften encoder settings like in your image.

With this methods you must obtain a output with same volume than input.

Select '0' or '31' for DN is equivalent.
