Ripping have to be activated to make it possible to select an other track than the longest.
I does not mean the selection of chapter that is possible when ripping is activated.

Translators feel free to step in anytime. I don't understand. (not being sarcastic or wiseass either)

I was hoping it wasn't just me. Phew.
If English is a second language you might want to ask someone else to translate for you. There are many members here that read, write and speak more than English.
Although English is the accepted language it has happened a couple of times before that someone will post in their native language and ask in English for someone to help and translate for them.
If English is your first language, What did you take and where can I get some? (I am being a wise ass here)

I *think* what he is trying to say is that when you select an ifo file DVD2SVCD always select the longest video track (Hence normally this is the movie) and he wants to know how to select a different track and he is stateing that he don't mean with selecting the different chapters from within the longest track.
And to answer what i belived he said is when it selects the longest track click the box to go into the chapter selection part at the top you have a box called Track Length here you can select a different track then the one dvd2svcd selects.

I am so sorry about my hard to understand question.
The question still not answerd was;
"How do I select another track than the longest".
It states from the faq that I cannot select chapters if not ripping is activated.
It does not say that ripping must be activated for selecting shorter track, but this is a must.
The chapter slelecting thing is something you cannot select anyway unless ripping is enabled but track-selecting is allways possible but not usable.
I want to select a short track only for making a test. This was for my other question about RunbbMPEG crashing. It was not funny to make severeal test with a complete movie if I know that DVD2SVCD probably crash at an later stage.
The reason for making everybody confusing is that this bug made me confused. I must confess that I had drunken both coffe and tea at the moment and it was in the middle of the night.
I don't think translation is the problem. My mind was confused at the time so it had been the same in any language.
I still think that DVD2SVCD is the best SVCD-making software but I cannot use any newer version than 1.0.5 build 2

If you are asking if you can select a different IFO file then the answer is yes, just click on the file folder icon and select the one you want. If you want to select only certain VOBs in an IFO, I am not certain, I have never tried that. You can re-rip VOBs already on your hard drive and then select only a chapter or two, just remember to select a different folder for the ripping output that the one that has the VOBs on it.
Hope this has helped answer your question.

O.K.
load explorer & view the files on the dvd in the video_ts folder.
the largest .IFO file size is normally the movie. the smaller the .IFO the smaller the movie track. make a note of the smallest .IFO. the name will be lets say VTS_03_0.IFO the Movie will be VTS_03_0.VOB
so to do a test in Dvd2svcd click on the IFO file load tab & select the IFO you have identified as the smallest.
then click go.
if you only want to encode part of a movie. select the largest IFO
when this is verified you will get an extra Icon next to the "GO" button. this Icon is "..."
click this icon & it will show you the Vobs to be ripped.
select the VOBS you don't want & select delete.
when you press go, only the remaining VOBs will be encoded.
Hope this helps.

No, I do not want to select another IFO.
There are 3 levels of selection.
1. Selection of IFO file. DVD2SVCD selects the biggest which not allways is correct. I have movies that is not located in the largest IFO file. It is easy to select another IFO.
2. Selection of distinct track inside an IFO. There is most often only one. DVD2SVCD selects the longest track. It is possible to change this in the interface but when conversion start it disregard the selection and uses the longest. This is a BUG, and not something anyone can tell me to do this and that. I beleave that this was working in some older release.
3. Selection of chapters inside the track. DVD2SVCD selects all track unless ripping is activated.
I do want to select another track (2 from above) that is not the longest.
If You all does not understand the question, maybe You havn't seen a disk where there are severeal tracks inside one IFO. The movie IFO file has often only one track.

Sorry pal but you have lost me completely.
I was led to believe the IFO file simply contains the chapter information etc for a given VOB.
the tracks are on the Dvd not in an IFO file.
could it be the individual chapters you are after?

Well, IFO files often contains more than one movie length, for instance T2 has 3 or for full movie time codes. The only way to select one of them is by activating internal ripping.
Now, if your trying to use already ripped vob files and if the vob files have been ripped with vStrip, Internal ripping or smartripper, this feature is unavailable, since the ripped vobfiles only contain the original movie length you selected (the vob-and-cellid's belonging to that movie time length).
But if you ripped the vob files fully (all vob-and-cellid's intact) with for instance DVd Decrypter then you can activate Internal Ripping and select the Movie Length you want.
I can hardly see the above as a bug, I mean the program is not AI. And it can't very well work with non-present data, meaning vob-and-cellid's missing from the vob files.

Thanks for the answer.
This confirmed my original statement "Ripping have to be activated to make it possible to select an other track than the longest."
It is funny how many "I don't understand" or "Are You stupid" it takes.
I think that I must have some more harddisk to solve my problem since I have to have my vob file two times on the disk if I Rip from a film that is allready ripped. But harddisks is cheap!
