Is Windows Media Encoder 9 Series optimised for Quad cores?

Just curious, I know it gets a boost for 2 threads but what about 4 etc? Would also be interested if so, the difference in encoding speed to expect percentage wise, roughly.

Yep, it supports up to 4 threads, and scales nicely.

Also, note that's a feature of the encoder .dll, not Windows Media Encoder itself. If you're running the old Format SDK 9.5 from WMP 10, for example, you'll only get two-way threading.
