Hi, i'd like to use aac with my x264 football encodes, i believe aac is the same quality but at a lower bitrate, am i right?

So 96kbps AAC or something would be the same quality as 128bit mp3? what bitrate would be the same as 128bit mp3 (roughly or course).

Also which of the codecs should i use, there are LOADS of profiles and 3 different AAC codecs:

AAC: FAAC
AAC: Nero Digital
AAC: Winamp

I heard Nero is the best out of those 3, here are the options for it:

what i'm looking for is the get the equivalent audio quality of 128bit vbr mp3 but at a smaller size so that my video can get a higher portion of the 700mb and have a higher video bitrate:)

The source is PDTV btw, not music or dvds, usually football matches that i want to archive.

thanks very much guys, sorry to be a pain.

First of all look at Rule 12 in forum rules.

Second, since its football audio, and not a 5.1 surround movie, you could probably go even lower than 96kbps.
Test for yourself with various AAC encoders and listen to the differences.

i find it hard to tell the differences, so maybe 80kbps would be equivalent? which 1 of the codecs above should i choose, i've tried looking for information about them with no avail:(

i've already read many threads like that, they describe the difference between LC-AAC and HE-AAC but there are 16 different options in the above screenshots to choose from, i cant find anything that says what each 1 is and the differences between them.

Best than CBR encodes you can use quality based encode, maybe for a football match is enough q=0.3 or 0.2

From the screenshot you posted, each AAC setting has a 2 letter code in front CTAAC, NDAAC.
These are the different "Brands" of AAC encoder.
CT I believe is "Coding Technologies", and ND of course is "Nero Digital". To further answer your original question, I would use the "NDAAC-HE 64kbps" setting.
