Just a quick question. Is the following formats valid for HD-DVD and Blu-ray? I don't have any HD player, so i can't confirm...
1) MPEG-2, 720x480p30 @ >=15mbits/s
2) MPEG-4, 1440x1080p30, PAR of 1:1
Thanks ^^

woah, thanks! That's a load of infomation... So can i safely say that, for HD-DVD, :-
1) Desprite being MP@HL, SD contents cannot exceed 15mbits/s.
2) HD is not equals to Widescreen.

What I posted, is only what Scenarist will accept for Video assets. Besides Ulead, and Nero Vision with the Blu Ray/HD DVD Plugin, there currently isn't any other choice, for HD DVD. Note, that Ulead has a very limited list of valid assets that you can use. I haven't personally tried Nero.
Scenarist will reject SD content that has a stamped max bitrate of 16mbit/s and/or SD content that has a lower stamped max bitrate but peaks at some point over 15mbit/s.
The issue I've had is with AVC content @ 23.976fps. Scenarist will reject this, unless it has RFF/TFF (pulldown). Once the AVC content has these flags added, chapter skipping and/or FF/RW cause sync issues. Not sure if it's a Scenarist issue, or the software I used to add the RFF/TFF. Native 29.970 AVC and all MPEG2 content works fine.
I've read Blu Ray will take 23.976/24FPS content.

Hold a sec...25FPS works for BluRay? I've been working on converting a 25FPS that I have to a 24FPS so that I can test out playing it in a BluRay player. Please let me know if I don't need to do this and if I can go straight from the original to the disc and call it a day.

Yes it does, for PAL. 23.976/24/29.97 is for NTSC.
Hi Def resolutions are the same xxxX1080 replace xxxX480 with 576 for PAL SD content.

Ah. So I'm going to assume that I can't just put this into my Sony BDP S500 and play this out my projector then seeing as my whole system is setup for NTSC (I assume...never actually did anything but I figured thats how it comes from the factory)?
