i would like to take a 6 channels AC3 file and work on every channel individually, i understood it can be done with nero wave editor.
the problem is, when i try to load an AC3 file i get an error: "an error as occurred while opening the file xxxxxx"

it also happens if i try to load WAV file.

any solution?

You can't load any wav file to nero wave editor? In oder to load an ac3 file you have to decode it to wav (you can do it with eac3to), but if you can't open wav files...

It seems to work with some ac3 files and not with some others. 5.1 wave files all seem to work fine here. I will report the problem.

Can you please provide more details about the wav file you are trying to open?

If you want to edit 6 channels individually, you need to separate them first. You can do that with Belight, converting them to mono wave files so Nero will definitely recognize them. After editing, use Nero or Belight to re-convert them to ac3, but I'm not sure how you join them into a single 5.1 audio. Belight doesn't seem to do that, and Audacity only saves in stereo waves (not ac3 5.1). I tried it in Nero Soundtrax but only got a stereo ac3. Maybe using Wavewizard?

You can use WaveWizard, BeSweet (with a .mux file), Avisynth methods...

And you can use Aften to encode the six monowavs directly to ac3.

It is possible to edit all channels simultaneously in Nero Wave Editor and save them in ac3 format.
There were problems in previous Nero releases considering ac3 decoding and encoding. Saving to ac3 should work fine starting from last release and opening an ac3 should work fine (including Dolby Digital Plus) starting from the next release.
Separate samples (mono, stereo or any other channel configuration) can be loaded into Nero SoundTrax and the mix can be exported to ac3 format.

The standard Nero include the Ac3 encoder or we must buy a encoder plugin?
Is Dolby Digital certified?
If is a plugin, how much cost?

Nero's implementation of Dolby Digital is certified and is included in the retail version of Nero suite.
