View Full Version : Bitrate Tab seems wrong

Lets say i'm doing a movie that is 146 minutes long I want 3 full 80 minute disks.

Well the problem is Dvd2scd will only give me 2 full 80 minute disks and the 3rd disk is 300megs or less. Here are my settings per the bitrate tab. Minutes between 120/163 is set use 3 disks cd size 810 I overburn so thats why I set it 2 810. Max is set to 2250 min 300
max avg 2130 those are all default settings I leave them alone.

So when it goes 2 cut it says 799 size and if i let it go will cut my images to the 799 size. Still the big problem is i have 1 cce mpv file that is like 1.9gig in size around and that if i cut it up with the 799 or 810 setting is leaving my third disk small.

Things i've noticed that if i manually set the bitrate min 300 and max avg to 2030 i will get 3 full images..but if I let dvd2svcd manully do things it will set cce 2 do min 300 max 1800 with 1800 being the wrong # needed

1 more thing i'm using dvd2svcd 1.0.5 build 4 and i tried the 1.0.6 build 1 pre and seemed the 1.0.6 had more of a bitrage problem then the 1.0.5 4 does

What CCE mode are you using?

1 Pass VBR can be way off from the calculations in the bitate tab. Multipass VBR and CBR are more likely to be closer to the calculated bitrate.

I'm using both 1 pass vbr and cbr with same problems:( see if i use lets say 1 pass vbr i'll use the movie that is 146 for my example
if i set the bitrate myself it comes out with the 3 full cd's if i allow and just leave dvd2svcd 2 default it doesnt for some reason it wont allow the movie 2 be encoded past 1800...when in fact i need it 2 be at 2015 ect or close 2 that now if i do cbr its the same thing so it wont go past 1800 on the movie in question which is 146minutes long now i hadent noticed the problem in shorter movies just in this movie and like i said if i go back in a manually put in the bitrate needed the file comes...fine and then goes on 2 make 3 full images

Well lets see if I can help.
First off the mpv still needs the audio and 3:2 pulldown added so that 1.9GB file will be larger once those are done. If you have don't delete files checked you will get the 3:2 pulldown encoded file and the final mpeg before it is cut by bbmpeg to fit the cd's.

One issue is that there is a limit to how much data DVD2SVCD can put into a file. If your player can handle it raise the Max bitrate up to SVCD spec of 2500 and the Max AVG to 2350. You can also increase the MIN. I always use either 1300 or 1000.

I don't know but 810 might be confusing DVD2SVCD try dropping it to the default 800 and see what you get.

What is your audio bitrate set to. If it's at the default 128 raise it to at least 192.

Why don't you post your DVD2SVCD log file.

All the calculations made are for 3 pass VBR. If you use CBR or 1 Pass VBR you will need to manually adjust them.

I didn't see that you were using 1 Pass VBR when I did my first post.

Like I said all the calculations by DVD2SVCD are for multipass VBR you will have to manually adjust the settings yourself for 1 Pass and CBR.

Have a look in the newbies section there is a post there stating exactly what bitrate setting to use.

Yeah If i manually put in the values it always comes out right. Didnt know that the bitrate tab was for multipass only so you answered why i must always manually enter the values.

well... actualy, bitrate tab should work fine for each one CCE mode -> multipass VBR, 1passVBR (at least with Qfactor<10) and CBR... So, your problem is weird... Could you paste here the dvd2svcd.ini file?

Thanks MOzart for understanding my crazy post I was having a bit of a time explaning this since it never had happened before but now that i've read about a few things here and there this is what happens
In the bitrate tab the default i change is the 120/163 i make it 120/147 only for the movie that is in question which is 146 minutes
Anyways I use 3 for the # of cd's and cd size is 810. Bitrate range is 2523-2015
Max is 2250 min 300 min avg unchecked max avg is 2130

Problem is dvd2svcd is sending over this bitrate for the encode 300-1800
I have not seen this before myself but have done this dvd 4 times and same thing umm i cant send you the ini file you requested because i deleted that file after the post before yours thought i was just crazy and maybe i should read up some.
