Ok so i have multiple HD movies saved on my computers, all in MKV format. The resolution of the movies is either 1280x720 or 1920x1080. Now my question is, is it possible to convert these MKV's into video_ts/audio_ts vobs with ifos and bups without having to sacrafice the resoltuion. I've succsesfuly converted them but of course the resoltuion is always set to default 720x480 ( standard dvd resolution) I would love to keep the high resolution and burn them to dvd-DL and play back on my sony blu-ray player. thanks alot i just wanna know for sure if im trying to do the impossible. thanks guys

Welcome!
Impossible. The max resolution of a DVD-Video is standard NTSC or PAL. But if your player is DivX compatible, it can perhaps play your files directly. Just burn them on a DVD-ROM to test.

thought so, even if i got the files on the dvd in high resolution it would prolly only be 20 minutes of video length huh?

Well there's no way for anyone to figure out how many minutes of video you could fit on a dvd-r since the file size is dependent not just on the number of minutes but the bitrate used and the level of complexity of the various scenes.
But in general, dvd-r's, can't store all that much HD content...which is why blu-ray and HD-DVD came about.
You can go buy a blu-ray recorder now but the media is $25 a piece...so i don't think its worth it yet...
