I understand that in DVD2SVCD, CCE 2.5 is used because it accept .avs files.

I would appreciate it if someone could explain to me which program in DVD2SVCD creates the .avs files and why the use of the .avs format is necessary.

I was wondering because I was thinking of experimenting with cce 2.64 but, as I understand, it does not accept .avs files.

Thank you in advance

this avs file is created internaly. But you can use FitCD to do it also. avs is used because with it you can use mpeg2dec.dll and resize to provide each frame which will be encoded by CCE (just because of this this operation is called "frameserving")

So, why to use this avs instead of some pseudo-avi(like VFAPI) generator? Well... with this method you get a terrific increase of encoding speed.

btw: have a look at newbies FAQ. There you can read/learn a lot of things.;)
