Hello,
I'm trying to copy DVD to HDD to encode them into x264 or xvid with meGui; the problem is that I have problems with mpeg-2 video.

The episodes I want to rip are from Everwood and Veronica Mars season 1 , region 1.

When I copy the VOB files using DVD decrypter or anything else everything is fine but when I demux the content with projectx i get those unlimited errors:

-> Input File 0: 'D:\Documenti Sandro\DVDFab\MainMovie\VERONICA MARS S1 D5\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB' (170.309.632 bytes)
-> Filetype is MPEG-2 PS/SS (PES Container)
-> demux
-> VobID 1 CellID 1 @ 1024 (GOP#0 / Frame#0)
-> found PES-ID 0xE0 (MPEG Video) @ 2062
-> found PES-ID 0xBD (private stream 1) (SubID 0x20) @ 4110
-> found PES-ID 0xBD (private stream 1) (SubID 0x80) @ 16398

........

until the audio demux...and at the end I get mpeg-2 video and ac3 audio 2 minutes long but the original is more than 3 minutes. In fact when I play them they are "cut" every 1/2 second.

If I don't pass through projectx and I demux only audio and create d2v index file with dgindex when I add the d2v file to avisynth creator the video preview played gets interlaced :eek: so the final quality really sucks and it's not smooth.

If I add directly the vob file into avisynth creator the video is perfectly progressive (as source of course) but after encoding I get a faster playback like video is speeded up.

What's wrong with those video streams? I mean the DVD and VOBs playback are perfect (progressive).

The strangest thing is that this happens ONLY with NTSC DVD, in fact I tried copy "the war of the worlds" PAL and the demux is fine, no errors. Do you thing it may be some region protection?

I'm Italian by the way :)

Thanks for help

perhaps its arccos or other type protection which puts junk (a technical term) at the beginning of streams. i would think pts errors would only report for the first maybe minute or so of the stream. then that all should straigten out. use something that will let you kill the first few cells (like vobblanker) in this case. you can tell if this is the issue by looking at the original ifo. if there are very short duration cells at the beginning of the movie in the ifo then its probably arccos or a variant.
