Can anyone tell me what settings to produce an MP4 video (H.264/AAC) from AutoMKV that is compatible with Sony video walkmans - I have an NW-A808, which is supposed to support AVC basline and main profiles.

I have tried different settings in AutoMKV, but when I copy the file to my walkman, it can't play it.

Attached are grabs of output from G-Spot, for an MP4 that has been converted with Sony's Image Converter 3 (which obviously works), and for one that has been produced from AutoMKV using the PSP profile. There is a small difference in the container attributes, but I don't know how to make AutoMKV produce the right settings...

I have a S615F, i don't know if they have the same specs but it's quite possible. Here are the results of my tests :

Resolution max : 320x240

deblock : yes
mixed ref : yes
p8x8, b8x8, i4x4, p4x4 : ok
max ref frame : 9 (if i remember correctly - not sure)
b-frame : 0
CABAC : no

Baseline Profile @ 1.3

You could use Avinaptic to analyse your video. By enabling "DRF Analysis" you can have the full analysis of your clip.

Bump!

I have the same sony walkman, and i used avidemux to convert videos for it, using avidemux_2.4_preview2_win32.exe, and auto psp (non h.264) works.
Using the h.264 profile for the psp, fails. Newer up to date avidemux does not have non h.264 encoding for psp.

I have never used h.264 in this walkman.

I dont really know if there are good advantages in doing so (size, image quality...).

So i have the same question that the poster has:

How to produce "baseline" h.264 videos for the nw-a808 sony walkman?
