haven't seen a "how-to" on the "menu extras" feature.

what does it do?

will it save part of the original movie menu for you to use?

can someone post a quick "how-to"?

It's nearly the same as 'VOB Extras'
except it's for the Menu-VOB file.

So you are able to smaller huge Menu VOB files.
ReMPEGing doesn't work right now for the Menu. But you can strip out some unneeded VOB-ID's. For example, if you don't need a chapters-menu, then you can strip that away, what will save you many space on DVD-RW.

Or if a Menu-VOB containes more then one Language-Unit, then you can remove those, what will half/tripple size your VOB file down.
That's a very nice improvement.

i've been using the smartripper/ifoedit method to get just the movie. standalone player just starts playing the movie.

if i use the "menu extras", will i be able to keep the movies original menu with just the "play" selection active?

that would be great!

This depends on the DVD, so nobody can tell you that generaly.

It depends on what commands are in the IFO file.
Most times, if you select 'Play' from the menu, then a command jumps first to another titleset for displaying a copyright notice. That one then maybe set's some values, and jumps back to play the movie.

And this is alway's different for every DVD, so must find out yourself if can copy the DVD with menu, or without.
