View Full Version : Getting new codecs for MeGUI

I'm sure this is a relatively basic question for most people, but I'm very very new to this so bare with me!

I'm trying to get my iPod to play DVDs and other things I've downloaded onto it (easy, I mean like Sarah Silverman!) and I found this guide http://arstechnica.com/guides/tweaks/ipod-video.ars/6 that I've been following.

I've done everything correctly I think, but down when I'm sorting the codecs for MeGUI I can only pick x264, Xvid, Snow and LMP4. The one in the guide says I need AVC and I don't know where to find it, how to add it, or if I can use an alternative.

The version I'm using for MeGUI is 0.2.6.1043

AVC = x264

Another question - don't want to flood the forums with topics to accentuate my amateur status around here - is there anyway that I could download MeGUI 0.2.2.8 from somewhere?

I know that by now it's properly long out of date, but I have problems with trying to follow a guide when the two programs are different enough to confuse someone who is very new to this.

Wouldn't be easier if you just used RipBot264?

Sorry, I can't help with an older version of the program. Maybe a newer version of a guide would help. I've been using MeGUI for only about 2 weeks and I found this guide to be very helpful with MeGUI 0.2.6.1043:

Follow all the links on that page and the guide will come together for you.
