Cleaning and defragmentation

Hi all,

i was wondering one thing ...
If i use a cleaner (ccleaner, regseeker, jv16powertools, etc ...) and that for whatever reason (bug?) deletes entries in the register that should not, is there risk to change the settings of programs installed in my system? Or the only risk is of missing files? I mean, are there also programs that "interpret" deleting files, like a restoration of default values for its option?


Then, if i set automatic defragmentation (or cleaning ..) and simultaneously convert a file, is there the risk that if both programs are trying to access the same time, conversion fails?

Ccleaner should prompt to make a backup of the registry before cleaning or fixing.

I don´t think it´s recommended to defrag and convert/encode at the same time. especially not on the same HD.

Yes it was the best thing you can do, to back-up your deleting files then just zip...

In that case (changes in application's settings), my system will report me an error or it will be silently?

It depends on how applications handle registry keys. Some applications require information stored in registry prior to loading (keys are usually written to the registry during installation). Other apps are more tolerant and will just write to the registry if it doesn't find the corresponding keys.

If a Windows-critical registry key was messed up somehow, it's possible that you might not even be able to boot into Windows.

I just use perfect disk 8
and ccleaner
never at the same time
imo once you set up a nice Nlite disc, and your partitions a reinstall only takes a few hours...
