Hi all I have recently purchased a HTPC which I am utilising onboard VGA with on the ASUS M2A-VM HDMI board. I can select a lot of different widescreen resolutions for my TV (none of which are my native resolution but oh well). I have the latest ati drivers from the website but they don't seem to be of any use.

Basically although the Vista Media Centre menus and everything are in fullscreen my videos, and livetv still only display over an aspect ratio of 4:3, I can zoom them to full but naturally I get pixelation and I can't watch them. DVD's however full screen. Any ideas?

Thanks.

It has been suggested that for analogue TV because I am using the mainconcept mpeg encoder that I use Rad Light Filter Manager to set the aspect ratio on this codec to 16:9 but for some reason I can't get it to stick, it keeps defaulting back to 4:3.

Similarly where in FFDshow can I force a ressize? I've tried the aspect and sizing tab but it seems to look exactly the same.

you might need powerstrip if you have a 1366x768 tv and you're not able to select that res.

out of curosity, try windowing media center then back fullscreen and opening another vid in VMC, does that get the correct aspect ratio now?

Ill try powerstrip again, initially over my DVI to HDMI cable my TV didn't want a bar of it, but VGA might be a little more compliant I didn't think to try that again, will give that a go now.

I can force the res (albeit the monitor doesnt seem to like it at all) but that doesnt change video playback within vista media centre. The video still comes through over 4:3 not 16:9 for some reason.
