HP s3300t as media PC

do know if anyone's got experience with this
but I can spec it out with a core 2 duo E4500 (2.2GHz)
and 256MB 8500GT with DVI/HDMI out

think this will be good enough to decode h.264 at 1080P? planning to use latest Coreavc or Powerdvd

absolutely. Don't even worry about CoreAVC - the 8500gt + PowerDVD should play HD-DVD / BluRay with no problems.

Self encoded H.264 at typically high bitrate 1080p may be difficult through CoreAVC. But unless you have a lot of this stuff to play, it won't be an issue. Real HD-DVD / BluRay works perfectly through PowerDVD.
