View Full Version : getting two identical hd to work

hi,i just built a new comp:
asus p5k premium board
intel 6850
two seagate 250 g
my problem is that i only have the one hd showing in windows.in bios it shows two hd with the same mod #.ive tried unhooking and reconnecting it,still wont come up.i have them setup with sata,(master-red slave-black).also i removed the jumper pins,cause in the manual it says that they are not needed.any help would be great,thanks

Hi!i removed the jumper pins,cause in the manual it says that they are not needed.I'll wager a nickel that, despite what the manual says, if you apply the jumpers properly, things will be resolved;>}

hi
ive tried putting back the jumpers,and it still isnt showing up on windows.you can see it from devise manager and bios.ive even reset my bios,still nothing.this is a link to seagate trouble shoot page.http://http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/troubleshooting_assistance/internal_drive_interfaces/sata/

OK, im guesing the first drive is your O/S (so its formatted).
Is the second drive actually formatted ??
/Control Panel/Administrative Toosl/Computer Management/Disk Management
Does the drive show up as unformatted??
if so..format the drive ..assign Drive letter.

yeah thats probably it. If they both show up in the BIOS, the next step is to check the management console's "disk management" pane.
see if the drive is set up.

go into disk managment
right-click the drive
format
???
