Howdy
I am copying home vhs movies to dvd and have experienced problems when viewing the dvd with fast forward on my PC, although at normal play back it is ok. My question is WHY ? And What other questions should I be asking or looking for. Here's what I got and did.
2G-CPU, 3G-Ram, XP-sp2, DvdDecrypter, DvdShrink, DvdLab Std, and PowerDvd player.
I copied the vhs movie to dvd-rw on a JVC player/recorder and playing back it works. Each application used is at default (noobie) settings.
After creating the dvd-rw, I copied it on to the hard drive with xp drag/drop.
Using PowerDvd to play the dvd on the HD and the media dvd-rw, I see bunches of chapters, and I can fast forward 32X with no difficulties. There are no menus and the movie starts right up.
I then used DvdLab Std using the HD dvd files, inserted a menu and create a dvd on the HD.
Using PowerDvd player with the dvd on HD, I noticed the chapters are removed, and I can only fast forward at 4X or below. Any thing over that, PowerDvd goes back to the menu and stops working. However, normal play back is ok and the menu works.
Trying again, I used the HD dvd files and DvdShrink, did minor triming, and created dvd on the HD.
Using PowerDvd and Lalim to play the dvd has similar results - the fast forward above 4X or 8X tends to fail (the application stops). (for Lalim I used RoxioCreator6+ to create a dvd-rw).
I got the same results on my PC and laptop.
Both DvdLab and DvdShrink produce the same results when using fast forward. So I must be not be understanding something. Is this a common problem/issue? Or what do I need to study.
Thanks in advance. :)
