Hi there. I tried searching this form and read a couple of threads on subtitles and blu-ray discs, but I see you are mostly interested in ripping existing subs from blu-ray discs.
What I would like to do is the opposite, to add a subtitle stream to a blu-ray movie. The reason I want to do this is because my native language is Greek and even though I don't really need the subs to watch a movie, not all my friends are fluent english speakers.
So, the idea is, to be able to rip the Greek subs from the DVD version (this is easy obviously) and then insert this SRT file to the blu-ray disc (rip on your hard disk) replacing an existing subtitle stream. This way when you playback the blu-ray with pdvd for example you can go to the options and choose French subs (supposedly) but in reality get Greek subs during movie playback.
As I understand from the other threads you have managed to locate the subs in the blu-ray structure and export them successfully. So in which format are they? Can you convert an existing SRT sub to this format and then insert it in the original's place?
If all else fails (and subs can't be inserted in the movie files), and since I won't be using a standalone player but the PC for blu-ray playback from the HDD, is there some other way to use a filter (like directshow for divx files) and when I playback the bluray have some SRT sub file overlay the video?
