Hey folks,

So I've been looking at the Spyder3 Pro to calibrate my monitor for photo editing. Has anyone used this hardware, or similar color calibrators?

I'm new to calibration, and really want to squeeze everything out of my BenQ 24" LCD.

Any advice on the field in general would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I bought it back when it was just Spyder Pro (i.e., before 3 and before 2), and I have found it to be an invaluable tool to get (near) perfect color. (Sadly, they don't have Vista drivers for my old version, so after SP1 when I probably ditch XP, I'll be without m Spyder, but oh well.)

Anyway, I don't have any real advice other than, like televisions, calibrating your monitor is very dependent on how good your LCD's service menu is.

If it doesn't give you access to an "Advanced" color tweaking menu (independent red, green, and blue settings for both white scale and black scale, as well as, of course, color temperature settings), then your options will be limited. But I can't imagine that this will be a problem for you as only the cheapest of the cheap monitors don't have that. :)
