Is anyone aware of any software or, perhaps a VirtualDub filter, capable of converting either MPEGs or DivX-compressed .AVIs to anaglyph (red/blue, viewable with "cheapo" colored cellophane glasses) 3D?

In order to have 3D, even in the analglyph style, there must be a stereo source whether it's computer-generated from 2D images or photographed originally with two individual lenses. Therefore there can be no "filter" to create 3D. There exists incredibly sophisticated software that can create a 3D image from a 2D source, but even the most powerful graphics rendering computers can't do it real-time.
Look for the glasses that have only one darkened lens and give that a try - it gives a bit of a 3D look to video without the discoloration of the red/green lenses. I have a pair from the Rolling Stones 3D halftime performance of some 20 years ago during a Superbowl, and there's a definite 3D effect whenever the camera is in motion (not simply panning).
