Basically I'm looking for a DVD authoring program that will create a menu and allow me to select from one of several movies.
the problem is that the movies I want to use are in DivX format and I don't want to convert them. (I can play them on my DVD player just fine in there DivX and XDiv format).
All I'm looking for is a program that will create the DVD menu for me and let me select my own files without trying to re encode them. re render them, change the format of the audio or aspect ratio etc.
Can anyone recommend a program that will do this for me? please only recommend programs that you TESTED and know to work. so far i tried DivX Author, Super DVD Creator, DVD-lab PRO 2, roxion and a few other but none will make the menu without trying to re encode my files.
many thanks,
fifo.

divx create bundle will allow you to do the above with divx files only but the menus only display on divx certified players.

google the forum for links for a free pro version.

ps. wrong section u have posted in.

Hi!the movies I want to use are in DivX format and I don't want to convert them. (I can play them on my DVD player just fine in there DivX and XDiv format).Your DivX/Xvid-capable standalone DVD player has its own menu for such files.

Simply burn a few (or several, depending on their filesizes) of your .AVIs to a DVD as a "Data DVD" and you'll be good to go ;>}

DivX creative bundle. still try to re encode it to the new divX 6 format and that (believe me, or try it yourself) caused my DVD project to be reduced in size. I could only fit in 4 instead of 6 movies if I use it, and then there is the added issue with only playing it on DVD 6 compatible players.

and as for burning a few setarip_old, thanks for the reply but being the owner of the device I did figure this one out myself ;)
I was asking for a program that will allow me to MAKE my own menus and let me customize the DVDs I have while still letting me use the DivX (.avi) format the files are in)

I just can't believe there is no program that will only create menus for DVD without allowing to disable the portion of re encoding the files...

INITIALLY YOU SAID:Basically I'm looking for a DVD authoring program that will create a menu and allow me to select from one of several movies.NOW YOU'VE ADDED: I was asking for a program that will allow me to MAKE my own menus and let me customize the DVDsHad you initially stated your additional desire to "customize the DVDs", I wouldn't have made the suggestion to simply burn data DVDs.

What kind of customizing did you have in mind?

Try DivxMediaBuilder, does all this without re-encoding!

I started on these things only recently and am yet struggling to get the hang of it all, but I know that this app does (basically), what you are looking for:
Make menus, set chapters, mux subs with the file and put it onto CD/DVD. Hope this helps. ;)
