I've installed ffdshow tryouts and Media Player Classic, but when I try to play a DivX file within MPC I can hear the audio, but there's no video being displayed. Opening the same file with Windows Media Player, I get both audio and video.

I've checked the Video Configuration for ffdshow and it's setup to decode DivX 3 and 4/5/6 files.

Why isn't MPC displaying video?

EDIT: I'm such a simpleton. Changed output from VMR9 (renderless) to VMR7 (renderless) and all is well.

Get Haali Renderer and be happy ;)

If VMR-9 doesn't work then it would be a good idea to get a different version of your graphics drivers.

I installed Haali Renderer back when I installed ffdshow using all the defaults.

My graphics card is an nVidia 8400M GS, which means nVidia don't officially support it, so I rely on hacked INFs from LaptopVideo2Go. I think I'm running 160.09 and it looks like 169.12 has since come out, though I don't hold out much hope with such a minor revision, plus the former are incredibly recent anyway.

The age of a driver doesn't mean much anymore these days. Both ATi and NVIDIA frequently release buggy drivers.
