Problem with Sony DVD Player!

I have a Sony DVD player which I purchased couple of years ago! I have a problem playing some DVD's on this. I rent some DVD's from a library and I find that I'm not able to play it on my DVD player. When the Library fellow plays it on his Player it does play. But the same thing doesnt play on my DVD player! How can I check the region code for my DVD player? I purchased the DVD player from India and also I try to play R2 DVD's. Except in some cases. I'm not able to play either R2 or R1 DVD's. I can understand not being able to play R1 but why is it not playing R2 DVD's?

Hi!How can I check the region code for my DVD player?The SONY players have a stamp/sticker on either the back or the bottom that states the Region. Additionally, the Region should be stated in the documentation...I purchased the DVD player from IndiaIndia is Region #5
