Hello there, I am ripping my dvd's to hard drive to have available on demand via my directv receiver. I started off ripping at 700mb but decided i wanted the quality to be a bit better. So I then ripped it at 2gb and it wouldnt play on reciever. Went down in steps going all the way down to 900mb and still wouldnt play. Ripped a new movie at 700mb and it played fine. I am using a program called Tversity to server these files and have it set to always transcode. I wouldnt have come here to ask about this issue but I got the following suggestion from the tversity forum and thought I would give it a shot asking here. I should also say i am using the current stable version of autogk.

My understanding is that AutoGK is a GUI for mencoder. Mencoder is a nasty ugly command line program that takes some minor wizardry to understand. There are tons and tons of GUI's for mencoder to bring sorecerous powers to the layman...its fugly but in an awesome sort of way. Look for a mencoder.exe in the AutoGK directory to confirm. All u need to do is either look for config files (some guis will have whole command line built in INI files or such, just edit the command line to add "-noodml" in the list of parameters....or you can download an old version of mencoder and replace the one in your AutoGK directory. If doing the latter just google a bit for mencoder and -noodml and ODML to find discussions on what version of mencoder you would need. There are also other front-ends that use the same rockin mencoder engine, I will be posting one of my own in a few months (mine is a fugly script, but not as fugly as mencoder raw).
