Hi guys, i thought this was the right place to ask this question: I have stuttering picture when i playback dvd`s; both iso`s and proper dvd`s. It happens in Windows media player, zoom player 5.0, 5.5b and VLC. It happens when the movie changes scenes and there is a lot of movement, looks almost like it`s loading data for the new scene:) I`ve tried dscaler, purevideo etc. and i`ve reinstalled windows. CPU usage is like max 3% at one core while watching a dvd, what could be wrong here??:confused:

Most common reason, in my experience: PIO mode, caused by reading errors on a bad disc. Reset it to DMA. (http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/forum/windows-xp/23651-cant-change-pio-dma.html)

@friskies

According to this other (slightly earlier) post of yours, it appears that you've already resolved your problem. Is that correct?

Setarip: No, that was HD with DTS only. DVD`s still stutter i`m afraid:( It`s weird that i`m able to playback 720p x264 material without a hitch, but DVD`s stutter.
Oh, and the drive is set to ultra dma 2 too.

Does this happen ONLY when playing DVDs from your DVD-ROM (or burner)? Or does it also happen when playing either comparable or other videos from your hard drive?

When playing dvd images mounted with alcohol or physical disks, but not on other types of video:\

Did you install your motherboard drivers?
That can make a huge difference.
I have a VIA based motherboard, and PowerDVD won't play fine unless I install the Hyperion drivers.
