Hello,

I rip using DVDFab HD Decrypter (free version) and I never get speeds faster than about 2.5 MB/s which amounts to about 50min rip durations for most DVD's. I am using WinXP and my drive is a Plextor PX-755SA which is an SATA connection. Shouldn't I be able to rip faster???

My searches yeilded many threads where DMA settings were the issue but obviously that doesn't apply to me since I use SATA.

Thanks for your help!

Plextor drives have the feature that they limit read speed to 2x when a CSS protected DVD is inserted to reduce noise. If i remember correctly there are 3 ways to disable this. You should be able to switch it on and off with PlexTools, you can disable it for the next inserted DVD if you hold the eject button longer than 3 seconds (the drive led should flash multiple times to indicate success) and its possible to disable it with MMC commands, e.g. DVDDecrypter has this feature (named Plextor SpeedRead i think).
