hi

i just bought the mighty boosh live (only £5 from hmv, well worth it imo)

well i backed up the first disc just fine with dvdfab platinum, plays fine from hdd, xbox and off dvd when re-burnt. the 2nd disc however, appears to back up fine but will not play back.

all that happens in vlc media player or powerdvd is that the sound stutters for about 30 seconds and no video is shown at all. the xbox has a better attempt at playing it but ends up showing brights pink & green blocks instead of actual video.

ive tried ripping it on 2 different pc's with different dvd-rom drives and get no joy on either. interestingly, dvdshrink and the original dvd decrypter refuse to back up the 2nd disc at all, but both rip the 1st disc fine also.

any ideas?

Hi!

1) Does the ORIGINAL second DVD play properly on your computer?

2) Does the ORIGINAL second DVD play properly on your standalone DVD player?

the original second dvd plays fine on the xbox, but vlc media player & powerdvd both crash when i try to play it.

unfortuneatly i dont have a standalone dvd player to test it on.

could it be a faulty disc? everyone knows how sturdy the xbox is, i guess ill have to find a standalone to test it on.

could it be a faulty disc? That's very likely - and the reason I asked you those specific questions.

While playing the DVD in your Xbox, you didn't turn the Xbox so that the DVD was vertical, did you?

ah no, sorry - shoulda explained... its an old xbox1 - running xbmc. when i said the xbox was sturdy, i wasnt being sarcastic ;-)

i guess ill take it back and get a replacement... altho having a quick look around the net i cannot see any rips of the second disc anywhere... but the first disc is easily found... kinda makes me think that the problem with the second disc could be a fairly widespread one.
