View Full Version : Capturing screen video

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a tool for capturing the content of a computer screen as video. Basically like "printscreen" but video as opposed to just a picture.

I realize that capturing video in real time at full resolution is probably going to be far beyond the capacity of my computer. But just downconverted to 640x480 would work fine.

I'm doing some reviews of software and want to show how they are used, but some are 3D programs, so it would be best if I could find a recording method that used minimal CPU because I only have one core and thus it'll be sharing it with the program I'm demonstrating.

Any ideas or anyone tried anything that might work for this?

hi
3) If your computer has a TV-out, clone the output to the TV-out, buy a 50$ composite/s-video capture card, and record your tv-out with the capture card.
If you have a 2nd computer, put the capture card in the 2nd computer so it doesn't use any cpu power on the 1st computer.
Recommanded if you want to record video games since it doesn't force vsync at 30fps. Only works for SD recording.
