So the fall is here again and the farm is all but put to sleep. Whatz new in the video circuit? if someone could summarize the development of avisynth and the associated filters of the last two years and how easy it is to turn Led Zep into 5.1 into one quick response it welber appreciated.:).... Merry seasons to all.

Kind of hard to do.

Avisynth has been moving along fine. It is now working on 2.58 with an alpha release. 2.60 is also being developed.
As for 3.0, nobody knows for sure, but we all pray :)

x264 reigns supreme in most things video. Development has been refreshing, and numerous patches have been released with added functionality and so on.

Several new deinterlacers have been released, mainly Yadif and NNEDI are the top 2.

Audio has been steady, mostly focusing around AC3 and AAC with Aften and NeroAAC/WinampAAC.

Oh, and HD DVD/Blueray is being attacked on several areas, be it decryption to backup to format conversion.
