View Full Version : Undersizing or correct?

Hi,
I'm using dvdrb v. 1.26.5 with ccesp2. In some case (Carlito's way and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End) the final size is less than expected (4,1 Gb for both). I expect the final size around 4.4 -4.5 Gb. I set Enable Bitrate Redistribution, Apply Redistribution to all Vtss (series) and Always use HC for Redistribution Pass. I tried to set CCETargetSectors=2254438 option in dvdrb.ini and the final size is 4.5 GB. But this option gave me (with others movie) an iso file too large. I'm not sure what is wrong (if there is really anything). Is there a setting i need to change to correct this?
Thank you for any suggestion!!!

P.s. Sorry for my bad English!!!

Here's my log:

Typically that means there is some degree of encoder saturation. Actually its a good thing, it indicates the quality is very high and the encoder doesn't want to waste extra bits. You find that fairly often in "movie-only" encodes.

Try choosing a high-bitrate matrix and see what happens then. The encoder default is probably MPEG standard which is not for high bitrates.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End's main title has like 10 or so "blank" cells at the begining, maybe that caused the undersizing, i dont know about carlito's way tho

remove the 10-20ms long cells with pgcedit and clean the titleset with FixVTS
then try to re-encode the dvd again

I really don't think 300MB is enough to worry about. It won't make an appreciable difference in the quality of the output.

I really don't think 300MB is enough to worry about. It won't make an appreciable difference in the quality of the output.

In fact, Carlito's Way and Pirates of the Caribbean seems to be perfect. After some testing there aren't considerable difference between final size 4.1 and 4.5 GB...
Thank you very much!!!
