Ok, Here's the thing. I bought a new HDTV and I use a standard dvd player that doesn't play any special formats like H264, Xvid or Divx. I assume the DVD player can play DVD file type, SVCD and VCD and that's about it.

I have some of my movies like Predator encoded in H264 AAC MKV (the original DVDs I lent to someone else a long time ago) and I'm getting tired of watching them on a 17 inch monitor. Is there a way I can convert the movies and watch them on the DVD player attached to the HDTV in good quality? I mean I don't expect miracles, I just want to watch my movies on a 50" screen instead of a 17".

I'm thinkig that I'll have to convert the movie into either VCD, SVCD or miniDVD, split them into multiple parts and burn them on a couple CD-RWs that I have lying around.

What would be the best output quality encoder that I can use? And how would I go about converting my H264 files into a DVD compatible format?

Just get the DVDs back from your friend. It will be a whole lot easier.

And don't ask what's best. It's a forum rule violation.

My friends are all over the country so I can't just ask for my DVDs back. So what would you recommend.

In effect, then, you don't own them anymore. So thread closed for rule 6. I note you have a previous history of rule 6 violations.
