Looking to upgrade from 2.56 to 2.57 or 2.58...
Do you recommend removing the old version and do a clean install, or is it OK to just install over the old version?

@archaeo
While I was working on avsFilmCutter's (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=97438) interface with avisynth.dll I did a lot of version jumping back and forth. I have in a matter of minutes jumped as far back as I could go (version 2.06) and stepping up each version until reaching 2.58 and all seemed well behaved.
I am currently bouncing back and forth between 2.57 and 2 versions of 2.58 with no trouble. Is 2.58 working ok for your needs, else wait till next alpha or release candidate or stay with 2.57 until 2.58 is done, but the installers in my experience seem to do the job with no noticeable ill effects.
An uninstall before install will not hurt anything. Kind of your choice as I know of no existing recommendations from anyone or I should say I have not seen any.

Ebobtron -
thanks for the info!
I think I'll go with a clean install of 2.57 until the final 2.58 is released. Thanks again

The installer is designed to overwrite the existing install.
If this ever fails please report it as a bug.
