Good MPEG1 converter?

anyone know a good program like that converts wmv/avi/mpeg2/etc files into MPEG1, i just need a program that converts files into the best MPEG1 quality without leaving black bars in the videos..

heres an analogy of what im seeking

avidemux/vdub is to .avi (xvid)

as

___________ is to MPEG1

i find it that open source programs are better than pay ones but if theres a good pay program *cough*easy to find keygen*cough* then please tell me :)

At 6.) is your desired universal keygen.

For MPEG1 you can use TMPGenc which is free for MPEG1 encoding.
