View Full Version : R1 "Hairspray" (DVD)

The R1 version of "Hairspray" appears to contain yet another new iteration of the type of protection we saw on "Blade - House of Chthon" and a few others after that.

1) DVDFabHD Decrypter v.4010 processed the full disc properly, without difficulty.

2) DVD95Copy Pro v.39_113 was UNABLE to process this DVD.

Perhaps another poster can advise whether the latest version of AnyDVD has successfully dealt with this R1 DVD...

**EDIT** BTW, it's apparent that our postings regarding copy protection are being"observed' - as SmartRipper is no longer capable of processing DVDs with this type of protection

AnyDVD 6.2.0.1 has no problems with this disc.

@NBK_4_SINISTER

Hi!

RipIt4Me cannot handle this particular type of copy protection, which has thusfar been limited to a handful of recent releases.

As noted above, you can use either (freeware) DVDFabHDDecrypter v.4010, that I've confirmed for Region 1or, AnyDVD 6.2.0.1, confirmed by linx05 for, presumably, Region 4...

6.2.0.2 2007 11 21
- Fix (HD DVD): Black screen with re-release of "Planet Earth" series.
- Fix (DVD): Although CloneDVD2 worked with "Hairspray" (US), AnyDVD
ripper aborted with a "VobSet 1" error. This is fixed now.

Apparently there was a bug with the AnyDVD ripper and Hairspray. A BETA has been released (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=10074).

Mostly R1 I think. I have not got my hands on a copy. Apparently Aussies will not be seeing it till January 8th (http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/796256) next year. *sigh*

People who ripped the movie with CloneDVD2 saw no problems. The only problem people had were the ones who used the AnyDVD ripper. That bug is now fixed.

See http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=68663&postcount=27 for a verification of this.

I tried it with an older version of DVDFabDecrypter, RipIt4Me, DVDShrink, and DVDdecrypter. None worked. The disk also tried like the dickens to install some program related to intermediaplayer, and do some other shenanigans, on inserting to the drive. I'm rebooting with the latest dvdfabdecrypter, hd 4010. hopefully that will work.

update: also, the video_ts folder seems to have over 11gb of files in it. huh?

@mikewilnotupdate: also, the video_ts folder seems to have over 11gb of files in it. huh?Among other protection things, the directory includes two phony listings for "VTS_01_1", as well as fake .IFOs and .BUPs.The disk also tried like the dickens to install some program related to intermediaplayer, and do some other shenanigans, on inserting to the driveEither turn off the "Autoplay" feature of your system or do the following in the SPECIFIC order listed:

1) Start "RipIt4Me"
2) Select either "Wizard" or "One click" mode
3) THEN load the DVD
("RipIt4Me" will show a notation that it has trapped/prevented the Autoplay function)
4) Exit "RipIt4Me" (Leave the DVD in the drive)
5) Start DVDFabDecrypterHD v.4.010 or newer

Or even easier - turn off the stupid bloody autoplay for good.

1. In Regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom

2. Double-click the Autorun value, and type 0 for its value. (If it's not there, create it by selecting Edit --> New --> DWORD Value, and typing "Autorun" for its name).

You may have to logout and log back in for this to take effect.

Regards
