Hello all,

First off, my appologies if this question has been asked before, but i wasn't able to find the answer.

I have installed the latest version of avisynth 2.5.7. Using the latest version of virtualdubmod, if i create a simple avs script in notepad:

Save this script, and set the encoding in save as dialog to "UTF-8" instead "ANSI", virtualdubmod fails to open it with the following error.

avisynth open failure:
unexpected character "i"

Has anyone run into this issue before? Yes i know i can just save it as ANSI and be done with it, but i would like to know how i can fix this with UTF-8 encoding.

OS: Windows 2003 Server.

Yes, save your script as bog standard ordinary ascii text, that is all that is currently supported.

The BOM sequence, "", at the start of the UTF-8 file will choke Avisynth.

This issue re supporting UTF-8 and/or unicode is being discussed here
