messes subtiltles sync.

That's when I use vobsub to extract subtitles.

Any solution to that??

I've not seen that problem when using the RipIt4me "package" (I continue to use v.1.6.4) to rip in "Full DVD" mode.

Perhaps there's a problem with your use of VOBSub?

Have you had previous success using RipIt4me with DVDs that had other-than-RipGuard copy protection?

BTW - What do you mean by?:Ripit4me fixes audio sync

I was having problems encoding disney subtitles when using anydvd plus dvddecrypter.

Video and subtitles were OK, but audio was out of sync.
Then I tried Ripit4me and got audio and video perfectly sync'ed but subtitles were way off.

I let ripit4me do its job ripping in "full dvd mode". Then create an ISO from the files using dvd shrink. After that, I load the image and use dvddecrypter to rip exactly what I want (audio tracks and subtitles).

If you have subtitle sync issues, it is probably due to your post rip editing. In any event, you can use DVD SubEdit to fix it.

My use of vobsub is no different than when ripping non disney titles.

True, I can always resync subtitles, but why the extra work?

Thing is:

using ripit4me I get audio ok, subtitles not ok
NOT using ripit4me I get audio NOT ok, subtitles ok

Oftentimes, sync errors manifest themselves on advanced protection DVDs. But these usually happen after conversion to another format if the tiny and protected cells have not be deleted.

I doubt the ripper is at fault. But you could consider a run thru with FixVTS to see if there are pointers which are wrong.

@bira

If you PLAY the ISO (from the RipIt4me rip), are both the subtitles and audio in synch?

... if the tiny and protected cells have not be deleted.

Shouldn't the ripper be supposed to get rid of protected cells?

Yes, it plays fine. As it plays fine when using anydvd + dvddecryper.

Then the problem isn't Ripit4me.

Just to be certain, I presume the reason you are extracting the subs is because you are converting the DVD to .AVI.

If so, what software and procedures are you using to create the .AVI?

If so, I wonder if the results would be the same if you used RipIt4me to rip the "movie-only"?

Humm, I tried ripping "movie-only" and encoded a small part of the movie and both audio and subtiles were sync'ed. So, can we assume that dvddecryper is at fault? Or at least, the way I am re-ripping the disc?

That's the way I like to do:

1- Set anydvd to remove any protection from dvd
2- Rip whole dvd to iso using DVDDecrypter, which is set again to remove any protection
3- Exit anydvd
4- Load ISO
5- Use dvddecrypter to rip movie only with selected streams
6- Use megui to do the encoding and creation of d2v files
7- Use vobsub to rip subtitles.

Results: audio is out of sync, subtiles is sync'ed

Now using ripit4me the way setarip_old advised:

1- anydvd not loaded
2- Use Ripit4me to rip "movie only"
3- Use megui to do the encoding and creation of d2v files
4- Use vobsub to rip subtitles.

Results: both audio and subtiles are sync'ed

Thing is I like to have the ISO of the disc. So, what should be the correct procedure to have a perfectly clean ISO? Or should I rip the disc to an ISO with all protections and then use Ripit4me to rip the "movie only"??

The one thing I notice is that when I rip using anydvd and load the ISO, dvddecrypter still mention "possible structure protection found".

I'm confused!!

Your mixing and matching is what is getting you into trouble. I certainly would not mix AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter or AnyDVD and RipIt4Me.

As well, DVD Decrypter is not the only program with ISO mode.

IŽd love to have some guidance on what to use to get a clean ISO, so I could use dvddecryper to select exaclty which streams I want.

Yeah, that worked, thanks. But I really would like to have a clean ISO so I could use dvddecrypter to select whatever streams I like.

Ripit4me would only let me choose one audio track and one subtitle or all audio tracks and all subtitles tracks.

One side note: ripit4me complained about unreadable sectors and asked me if I would like to re-rip the disc. I said no. Then it asked again if I would like to clean vob even with those bad sector. I said no again and it all went well.

Edit: I let Ripit4me do all the cleaning.

I tried to replicate what I did earlier but it failed. I just cannot get a sync'ed encode!

I'm so sick of these discs.

Does Ripit4me "movie only" handle multiangle discs??

There really is no reason for you to rip in ISO mode. If you want to select specific streams, demux and select them.

Also, have you tried using DVD Fab Decrypter? I am pretty sure it has an IFO mode now.

At least two other tiltles have the same problem.

Dvdfab worked for me.

I am ripping to ISO using anydvd + dvddecrypter and then using dvdfab to rip the streams I want from the iso. I could rip directly the streams I want, but as I said before I like to have the ISO.

Unfortunately, Ripit4me does not work for me because its "movie only mode" will rip all angles of the movie.

Thanks everyone for the help.

The reason the movie only worked is that some of your protected and tiny cells were not removed (possibly you have this setting off). MO mode always removes all such cells.

If you retain protected and tiny cells (and unreferenced video), you run the risk of desync. Check your settings and the help file.

@bira

I don't know if this will have any bearing on your specific (Disney) situation but, I've always had "Remove tiny cells" UNchecked...
