@zambelli

First, the obligatory (and quite necessary!) Muchas Gracias for the invaluable information you provided here. You have solved my transcoding needs for watching material on my Treo 750 smartphone. It's a point of frustration that I've been dealing with for over a week.

Follow-up question: I'm able to successfully use ans avisynth script to transcode source with the WME9 GUI for my smartphone via your instructions and the "Pocket PC" profile. I tweak it just a bit to turn off resizing and adjust frame and bitrates, but that's it. Produces a WMV that plays nicely.

My question is, what profile(s) can I use from the GUI? What settings for the encoder will nuke compatibility with WMP mobile on Windows Mobile 5?

Second, the help on the phone says that WMP mobile supports "MPEG-4 ISO 1.0". Figured that was achievable with Xvid, but I haven't been able to find any combination of canned profiles and/or setting tweaks that produces video that WMP mobile can decode. Any advice there?

Finally, I'm guessing WMP mobile doesn't support H264 yet, so I can't use that more advanced (and more compact) encoding? Can a codec be downloaded and installed on the phone to support these formats?

Thanks for any help!
