The anime DVD that I have consists of several parts - the video, audio, and subtitles. I only want to rip the japanese video, the japanese audio, and the english subtitles. Now the english video and japanese video are similar. The only difference is that the opening and ending themes are different. Whenever I try to rip using DVD Decrypter, I get the english opening and ending themes instead of the Japanese ones. So what can I do to rip these certain sections?

You probably need to rip the Japanese PGC instead of the one DVD Decrypter auto selected.

this would be a FUNimation disc, yes?
rip the second angle - english and japanese openings, closings, previews and recaps are all multiangled, so ripping the second angle should give you japanese.
they're all a big mess IMHO. way more work than the content is worth :)

How can I rip parts (like I can with IFO mode) from an already ripped (in File Mode) DVD9 on my HDD (I lend the disc to my friend)? It has the full file-structure ...
I know that I can create an image file from it with the help of eg. Nero (and after that I can mount in Daemon Tools), but isn't any other solution for it?
Eg. Can't I make a "fake" iso file from it, without the need of writing another 8GB on the HDD?
Thanks

Get it back from your friend.
OK. :) I know what you're trying to say ... :)
I'm so stupid, that I was ripping in File mode, so I must create an ISO file from it until I get it back ...
Thanks

opps i forgot to mention that main movie mode is analogous to ifo ripping in dvd decrypter you can set it to any desired title select chapters etc.
Also you can feed the program iso and file rips as well as dvds.

Ripping the second angle did work. Got a second question though. I have ripped the japanese video and audio along with the english subtitles. However, when I rip it all, I don't see any subtitles in the opening theme of the episode. The subtitles are everywhere else though. I know subtitles are suppose to be in the opening theme because they are there when I play the actual DVD. I want the subtitles of the opening theme along with the rest of the episode. How can I rip them?

I have a related question. I have an animé DVD that puts the subtitles in a rather stupid spot almost halfway up the screen. Is there a way to move them with VLC? It doesn't seem to be using the subtitle settings.

I have an idea, some anime discs have more then one set of English subtitles. For example one set may be intended for use as translation when watching the Japanese audio and the other set may simply be the English audio in subtitle form. One set could leave the intro without subtitles. If there are two sets you could try the other one. Are the subtitles in both of the intros or just one?

As far as I know the only way to move the subtitles would be to edit the disc however I do not know how to accomplish this.

Actually, I found it. "Force Subtitle Position". Not sure how I missed that. V_v

DVDSubEdit moves subtitles easily.
